Hiking

The surroundings of Le Pas de Ceilhes invite you to explore; there are walks both directly from the site and beyond. From short strolls to longer hikes: there are plenty of walks available that you can undertake on your own. Additionally, walks are regularly organized under the guidance of an experienced hiker.

  • The campsite is located in a nature area with elevations between 500 and 700 meters. The surroundings feature reasonably flat meadows, plenty of forests, and rugged terrain. It is wonderful for hiking in the area.
  • From the campsite, a walking path leads to the village of Saint-Xist and up to the plateau de Guilhaumard (2.5 hours up). From there, you overlook the valley of Tournadous and Fondamente; a beautiful hike! If you want a shorter route, you can also start at Saint-Xist and park your car in the parking lot.
  • It is also possible to hike naked to the ‘small’ plateau (45 min); the beginning of the hike is marked along the road from Pré des Violettes to Pré de la Source. Once at the top, you have a stunning view and can take a look at the ruins (with bats).
  • Just behind the farm, there is a marked walk over the hill to Ceilhes (2 hours), going over the hill. Nice view and pizza to eat in Ceilhes.
  • There is also a beautiful hike through the meadows behind Pré de la Source, through the valley. At the back, you climb up, and you can either return on the road or walk parallel to it through the back meadows. Once at the end, you climb back down to the parking lot at the entrance (3 hours).
  • Good hiking shoes are highly recommended, and please take fresh drinking water with you.
  • Can you help us keep the routes nice? Keep the walking paths clear and mark them with stones.
  • A map of the walking paths is available at the reception, and there is also a separate website where all the hikes can be found.
